The Monmouth County Arts Council established the Arts Education Awards Showcase to honor Leaders in Arts Education, Community Champions of the Arts and Community Arts Education Leaders in Monmouth County, those individuals, schools, administrators and organizations that support great arts education and the Arts Council’s mission of “enriching the community by inspiring and fostering the arts.”
An annual event, the Arts Education Awards Showcase has become an exciting evening for students, parents, teachers and community arts supporters to come together to honor the awardees and to acknowledge the power of great art education.
This year’s honorees for Leader in Arts Education are Brad Nicklaus, Allentown HS and Dr Gretna Wilkinson, Red Bank RHS; for Community Arts Education Leader, honorees are Angela Flynn Knox, former Director of the Summer Theater Program at Thompson Park, and Rebecca Flynn Harris, Managing Director of Holmdel Theatre Company; and lastly honorees for Community Champions of the Arts are the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, and the Freehold School Foundation in partnership with the Peter Jay Sharp Foundation and Barry and Star Tobias.
The evening will take place at SICA, the Shore Institute of Contemporary Art, Cookman Avenue, Asbury Park, on Monday May 7th, from 6-8:00 pm. Students performances and presentations from the 2012 Monmouth Teen Arts Festival will be showcased. Tickets are $10/adults and $5/students with proceeds supporting Arts Education programs.
