"Monmouth Beach Rising" is a temporary multimedia art project inspired by the increasing sea levels that are posing a threat to the coastal community of Monmouth Beach. The artist behind the project is Allison Hunter, a photographer and multimedia artist who primarily works with video. The project will be held at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, a public property near Galilee and the Navesink Marina on Ocean Avenue. The Center is known as the "heartbeat of the town" and hosts various community events, art shows, cultural exhibits, and musical concerts.

Monmouth Arts is proud to present Monmouth Beach Rising, a temporary multimedia installation by photographer and video artist Allison Hunter, created with support from NOAA, the NJ Coastal Management Program (DEP), and the NJ State Council on the Arts.

Selected as one of four organizations statewide to participate in this climate-focused arts initiative, Monmouth Arts brings attention to rising sea levels and coastal flooding through an immersive art experience.

Set against the backdrop of the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center—a hub for local arts and culture—the installation features looping video projections and soundscapes recorded over six months along the Bay Area coastline. Visitors will be enveloped in a sensory journey that explores the fragility and power of our coastal environment.

Join us for a community conversation on climate resilience and floodwater challenges, featuring Allison Hunter and local leaders. Together, we’ll explore how art can spark awareness and action in the face of rising tides.

In the event of rain, the installation will be rescheduled for October 17 and 18, and the discussion will be rescheduled for October 18.
